Title: Do You Really Know What You Want? - Project Requirements In An Agile World
Track: Project Management
Abstract: Did you know that the majority of features delivered in a software application are rarely or never used?* Even the highest performing teams may become very good at developing the wrong features. Knowing what our Customers value is challenging, especially when you consider the myriad of related offerings already available. Some innovators excel at dictating what Customers should want (Apple, Inc–Steve Jobs), while others simply figure out what we need (Google Inc). How is this accomplished? Join me for this concise and informative session on how Scrum, a very popular lightweight Agile approach, directly contributes to delivering needed features early and frequently. We will cover requirements, features, design, and incremental change within a Scrum framework. You will learn how to ensure that the majority of features delivered on your projects are valued and used.

 * According to the 2008 Chaos Report v3-Standish Group 64% of functionality delivered is rarely or never used.

Abstract: This talk will provide an introduction on how to apply lean concepts via Kanban to software development processes. Kanban defines an approach to incremental, evolutionary change for technology organizations. Come learn how Kanban can start you down the path toward a continuously-improving organization.

Title: Great teams, their culture, and how agile is changing how teams perform
Track: Project Management
Abstract: Some teams have it and some don't. There are teams that succeed no matter what they do or how they work. Great teams don't often just happen. It takes care and nurturing to build a culture of team performance.

Agility has changed how we deliver software, but also how teams work. Changes in how we work together to deliver more frequently have impacted team dynamics enabling higher levels of performance in our teams. Agility, Scrum, and Kanban methodologies are making us think about how we do things and in doing so make us approach teamwork much differently. Today, it is more about how we come together as a team to leverage the knowledge, strength, and passion of our team.

Come learn about how agile is changing how our teams work and how you can
build a culture of performance on your team.
